John Herder has a natural passion for building. He is a fourth generation builder, and was born and raised in a family with generations of knowledge. This has served to greatly set him apart from the rest of the building community. John’s father, Peter Herder, is the past president of the National Home Builders Association. The Herder family has laid some deep roots in Tucson and Southern Arizona, developing hundreds of Tucson residential communities, as well as very recognizable landmarks, including St. Phillips Plaza at River & Campbell, the Herder Building on Speedway, multi-million dollar custom homes in Skyline Country Club, Ventana Canyon, the Foothills, Butterfly Mountain Estates, and Hacienda Del Sol.

In the early 90’s, John was one of the pioneers of the first Green Home 21 in Tucson – a home built well before its time, which offered all of the green features which have come to be expected, such as recycled windshields used for tile, recycled plastic soda bottles for the carpet, and more.

Today, he and his wife Paulette have spent nearly 20 years building a solid business, with old fashioned values and a stellar reputation which will succeed them for the next generation of Herder builders. Having nearly 400 homes under their belts, the Herders take pride with every home they build as if it were their own. They are committed to using the best construction technologies, products, and techniques available, and their integrity and honesty are as much the core value of their lives as the underlying engineering principles and aesthetics are the core of a great home.

They don’t take short cuts and they aren’t trying to be someone else. The Herders are who they are, and their word is of the utmost importance to them. They invite you to visit their currently under construction homes so that you can appreciate the hard work and years of dedication they and their sub-contractors provide. The “fluff”, as they are known to call it, can be beautiful on any application. Anything can look great with a fresh coat of paint or tile, but it’s really what you can’t see when the project is done that matters. They encourage you to look behind the fluff and see where the quality counts.

Creating exciting living environments is the passion of the Herder family. John Herder Building is adaptable to a variety of home styles, whether you like Western Ranch; Spanish Colonial; Contemporary; Rustic; or Industrial Urban, they assure you that keeping in touch with your choice of architecture will be a reflection of you and your lifestyle with truly unique details.

Your vision, expectations, and dreams are their inspiration. Let them execute these principles – put your trust in the legacy of the Herders – and they will provide you with a home building experience that far exceeds your expectations while still remaining on your budget and delivered on time. You get to sit back, relax, and they will take care of all the details.

John and Paulette encourage any potential homeowners to visit their communities, and if you happen to see one of their many satisfied customers, ask them about their building experience. After meeting them, it’s no wonder why clients rave about the relationships they have developed with John and Paulette. Don’t be surprised if you have just made a new friend!

Many of their buyers live out of state while the home building process is under way. After nailing down the floor plan and design features, John Herder Building can guarantee that the process will run smoothly. They provide regular updates through both telephone and email, including verbal confirmations and photos of progress. Onsite scheduled meetings during construction are also available. Through patience and attentive listening to the buyer’s needs, they assure you a wonderful and peaceful building experience.

John works closely with his subcontractors, many of whom have had a 20+ year relationship with him. That, in and of itself, is proof of the high standards held by John. You will find him on his job sites daily, interacting and overseeing all aspects of the construction and assuring that quality is the number one priority. Both John and Paulette work closely with the buyers throughout the entirety of the process to assure their new home represents who they are with style, design, and everlasting quality. Having Paulette’s in-house design services offers clients the ease and use of a highly crafted eye to help them fulfill the look and style of the new home, and to be proud to share it with family and friends.
